Amy, 25, shot to fame playing the iconic 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale with Gary Woodland during a practice round at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in 2019. She hit the par 3 tee shot 117 yards into a greenside bunker, splashed her sand shot to within eight feet of the pin, and made her par putt, confidently stating, “I got this!” in front of a roaring crowd. The video capturing that moment has over 60 million views on social media and is the most watched video in PGA TOUR history.
In 2019, Amy and her family launched the I GOT THIS Foundation, whose sole mission is to promote inclusion through golf instruction and playing opportunities for people with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities.
The Cairns Cup is a unique USA vs Europe event taking place for the first time on American soil in 2024 and will be held at Cherry Creek Golf Club in Michigan, located just 20 minutes from the city of Detroit.
Speaking about taking on the Team USA captain’s job at the 2024 Cairns Cup, Amy said: “I am so excited to represent Team USA at The Cairns Cup! Inclusion means belonging to a community. What better way to be included in the golfing community than to play alongside fellow golfers, while representing my country. It’s a dream come true!”
